Apache Central Center

TEMPE, ARIZONA

Goal: Create a vibrant and inclusive community, focused on fostering meaningful intergenerational connections and providing affordable housing options for residents from diverse economic backgrounds, ultimately enhancing quality of life and social cohesion.

The Apache Central Center is a dynamic campus community comprising 400 units of affordable housing. Designed to cater to a diverse population spanning multiple generations and economic backgrounds ranging from 30% to 80% AMI, the project aims to provide inclusive living spaces for all. Embracing the Community For All Ages (CFAA) model, the community prioritizes human connection by offering carefully curated spaces and programming that encourage interactions among residents of different generations.

The project features a significant allocation of smaller 1-bedroom units designated for senior residents, alongside a mix of 2- and 3-bedroom homes catering to Tempe’s working families. Crafting affordable, multifamily spaces that encompass youth, adults, and elders will naturally foster social connections, complemented by programs and amenities provided by both the property and service partners, including a 7,000 square foot ground floor grocery store, along with a culturally diverse food pod poised to function as a micro enterprise accelerator program for aspiring food-based entrepreneurs.
