Meet Therainne
Viewfinder—Tigard, Oregon
When Therainne moved from Phoenix to Oregon to be closer to family and friends, one of her first priorities was finding a stable home for herself and her children. She applied for housing as soon as she arrived, and after two years on the waitlist, she received the life-changing news that she’d been selected for an apartment at Viewfinder.
Moving into Viewfinder was especially meaningful for Therainne—it’s the first home she’s had on her own with her children. Before this, she and her four children had been living with family in Phoenix, all sharing a single room. Now, they have their own three-bedroom apartment and a place that truly feels like home.
Therainne’s children love participating in the resident services programs at Viewfinder. It gives them something fun and meaningful to do outside the apartment. They’ve formed a close bond with the Resident Coordinator, who brings genuine care to their role. They have supported the family in many ways, including connecting Therainne with community resources like a school supply provider. Additionally, Therainne appreciates the events and potlucks held in the building’s community room, which foster connection among residents and provide access to helpful services.
For Therainne, the building’s safety is especially important. Her son has special needs, so being able to watch him and her other children safely from their apartment window brings her peace of mind. She also values the secure entry measures required to access the building.
Therainne is deeply grateful for affordable housing programs and communities like Viewfinder that have given her and her children a place to call home. Affordability, safety, and a supportive community make a meaningful difference in her daily life. She’s looking forward to taking on more hours at work once her kids return to school after the summer break.
