Meet Krystal
Rockwood Village—Gresham, Oregon
In search of something new, Krystal moved from New York to Oregon with her daughter. While apartment hunting online, Krystal came across Rockwood Village, which was still under construction at the time. Based solely on the renderings, she decided to submit an application. Months later, after packing up her life and relocating to Oregon, she was staying in a motel when she got the call that her application had been approved.
Krystal was among the first residents to move into one of Rockwood Village’s five residential buildings. Her favorite feature—besides the excitement of being the first to live in a brand-new apartment—was the large windows that allowed her to watch the sun rise and set each day.
Though she didn’t know anyone in the area when she arrived, Krystal quickly began building connections within the community. Despite the initial culture shock of relocating from New York, Rockwood Village started to feel like home. The campus regularly comes alive with car meetups, barbecues, and birthday celebrations. These events helped her find a sense of belonging in her new surroundings.
Krystal shared her appreciation for how the property management and resident services teams at Rockwood Village have become a genuine part of the community. She’s seen them work together to support residents—building trust by listening, addressing concerns, and connecting people with valuable resources.
Krystal and her daughter actively participate in on-site programming, including Hacienda CDC’s Expresiones program, an after-school initiative offered at all Hacienda properties, which her daughter attends. In her free time, Krystal enjoys sewing—she even hand-stitched the butterflies on the jacket she’s wearing in her featured photo.
