King’s Crossing Village brings 179 affordable homes to Aurora, carrying forward a pastor’s vision for his community

Restoration Christian Ministries and Community Development Partners celebrate a partnership rooted in affordable housing, belonging and connections across generations

AURORA, Colo., September 30, 2026—A vision born from the late Dr. Felix Gilbert’s own experience with homelessness has become a place for families, individuals and older adults to call home. Community Development Partners (CDP) and Restoration Christian Ministries (RCM) celebrated the grand opening today of King’s Crossing Village, a 179-unit affordable housing community in Aurora’s Centretech neighborhood.

Dr. Gilbert, who led the congregation until his death in 2021, understood what it meant to live without a home. His experience with homelessness as a teenager shaped his commitment to helping others find housing and support. RCM and CDP worked together over several years to carry that vision forward, developing underutilized land adjacent to the church into a community designed to bring generations together.

“Felix knew how deeply having a home could change a person’s sense of possibility. He wanted our neighbors to have a place where they could feel secure, be known and find support,” said Pastor Kotane Gilbert of Restoration Christian Ministries, wife of the late Dr. Felix Gilbert. “Seeing King’s Crossing Village open is deeply meaningful to our family. My hope is that the people who make their homes here feel the care that brought this community into being—and that we continue to walk alongside them as they build their futures.”

The three-building community offers one- through four-bedroom apartments, including 178 affordable homes for households earning 30%–80% of area median income and one manager’s unit. Fifty-one units are designed for seniors 55+. With 54 three-bedroom and 16 four-bedroom apartments, King’s Crossing Village also provides larger homes for households that need more space.

“RCM brought a deep love for this community and a determination to see Pastor Felix’s vision through. It has been a privilege to build a partnership grounded in that commitment,” said Eric Paine, CEO of Community Development Partners. “Together, we want King’s Crossing Village to be a place where families can put down roots, older adults feel connected, and neighbors of different generations learn from and look out for one another. Opening these doors is a moment to celebrate, and it is the beginning of our long-term commitment as an owner and partner.”

King’s Crossing Village reflects CDP’s Community for All Ages approach, which brings thoughtful design and resident programming together to encourage connections across generations. A community room and kitchen, central courtyard, garden beds, playground, fitness room and dog run create places for neighbors to gather and get to know one another. RCM will provide on-site resident services and intergenerational programming, with the program being developed around residents’ interests and needs.

“This opening carries forward Pastor Felix’s vision for housing rooted in this community,” said Brenda Taylor, President, Restoration Christian Ministries Board of Directors. “We look forward to getting to know residents and shaping programs around their interests and needs as we build the resident-services program.”

King’s Crossing Village was made possible through federal, state, local and private investment, including $3 million in direct congressional funding secured with support from Senator Michael Bennet’s office. Funding also included support from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, City of Aurora American Rescue Plan Act funds, private activity bonds, and federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and state Affordable Housing Tax Credits through the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA). Enterprise Community Partners provided equity investment. Citi provided construction and permanent loans, and Impact Development Fund provided an additional permanent loan. The Housing Authority of the City of Aurora supported the development through a tax-exemption partnership.

King’s Crossing Village was designed by Shopworks Architecture, with landscape architecture by Flow Design Collaborative, and built by Deneuve Construction Services. Property management is provided by Apartment Management Consultants.

The September 30 celebration included a speaking program, reception and property tours. All three buildings are open. For leasing information, visit kingscrossingvillage.com.
