Closing Announcement: Mariposa Village
April 18, 2025
We’re proud to announce the closing of Mariposa Village—a brand new affordable housing community in Hood River that will bring 130 homes to households earning 30%–60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
A partnership between CDP and the Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC), Mariposa Village is named after the Monterey Mariposa Lily—a native Oregon wetland species—and inspired by the Spanish word for butterfly. Symbolizing transformation and hope, the community will be a Community For All Ages (CFAA), offering a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom townhomes designed to foster a healthy, supportive, and multigenerational lifestyle—where people of all ages can live, work, play, and thrive.
Designed with community and sustainability at its core, the development will feature a dedicated community building for resident services and programming, shared gathering spaces, a classroom/meeting room, and outdoor patio, a community park with a children’s playground. The project places a strong emphasis on the natural environment and the neighboring local communities by incorporating trails and protecting the onsite wetlands.
The project was awarded $16 million from Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) through the 2023 Local Innovation Fast Track (LIFT) program. In addition to LIFT funds, the project’s financing includes 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, tax-exempt bonds, 45L equity, and an infrastructure grant from the State of Oregon, administered by the City of Hood River. Additional support was provided by the Energy Trust of Oregon, OR-MEP, and a congressionally directed HUD Community Project Funding grant. JPMorgan Chase is providing the construction loan, while Citibank is the permanent lender. Additionally, the City of Hood River donated the land.
Mariposa Village was designed by Holst Architecture and is being built by Walsh Construction Co.
